Welcome to The Creativity Cave! Whether you are joining in from Lori's Blog or you are starting here, Welcome! I am so excited to have you stop by! This month's theme is Springing into Flowers! I love that theme! I am so ready for spring to really get going around here! I am in Northeast Iowa, and we have had an odd spring so far. But just this morning, I saw some tulips starting to bloom–now that is a true sign of spring!
I decided to dive into my Paper Pumpkin kit over the weekend. This is a realy fantastic project this month–such an adorable wreath and it was super easy to put together! Best yet, it hardly took any time at all! My kind of project! When I made it I thought it would be perfect for my Mom as a Mother's Day Gift. She lives in an apartment in Duluth, and I think it will be perfect hanging from her door! However, I wanted to make a coordinating card, so I decided I could copy the wreath and incorporate it onto the card! It turned out better than I hoped it would!
Using just a Crumb Cake Card base (the rest of the items came from the kit itself–left over after I made the wreath), I stamped the greeting in the Vanilla pad that came with the kit. You may see it looks like it was double stamped–it is–and I was off just a hair. I usually have a super-power gift of stamping exactly on top of the image when I don't quite get it the first time, but I was off just the tiniest bit. Now when I made the card, I did this part last. That was a mistake which is why I mention it here. I should have stamped first! I wasn't going to transfer just the wreath I created to a new card where I cold re-stamp the greeting so we are just going with it! It isn't to bad, and I think the un-trained eye won't be able to catch my mistake.
As you saw in the video, I used a circle punch to trace the wreath. I then ran my fast fuse over the line and after cutting all the leaves off the strip, I started adhering them one by one, cutting down the longer leaves so they would create a nice, even wreath. The branches are 2 branches punched from the Build a Bird punch (by the way, this is on the Retiring List, so make sure you order it–I love this punch!!) I then used the Itty BItty Accents punch Pack flower punch (ALSO on the retiring list and totally something you MUST own before they are gone!!) with the left over flowers paper. I folded them in quarters and attached to the branches using glue dots. Tied some crochet trim and I was done!
I think it turned out fantastic! I also did one to match the wreath using the black rectangle diecut piece from the kit so it would match the wreath.
Also super cute–though in my impatience I smudged the ink a bit while tying the twine!

Your talent always amazes me! Love your card!
Hi Dena, I saw the shadow on the stamping and thought you did it on purpose. I think it looks great! Beautiful card to go with the wreath.
Great card to go with the springy wreath. I like it with the “Happy Place” on there. Even though I probably will keep my wreath, I still might make the card for another occasion. What a great idea punching the little yellow flowers out of the excess paper! Great job as usual!
I totally did it that way on purpose!! 😉 Thanks so much, DIanna!
Oh wow! Love the wreath card — so clever!!!
You Win! The card idea is amazing…going to dig my scraps out of the trash…
