I am such a goober! I LOVE this stamp, but I had it hidden in a weird place in my office, and now it is on the retiring list and I am sad…can you see my tears? 🙁 So I had to use this stamp–and I love how my card turned out–but it was not the first version! Just in case you were wondering, my first attempt does not always turn out. Many times I get lucky, but I had to go back to the drawing board to get this!
This week's challenge is ONE ELEMENT–that is kind of hard because we sort of train ourselves to Jazz things up–so keeping it super simple can be tricky! This is why you can see I picked a big stamp–not too much room left after that is down!:)
SO I stamped this on Whisper White Cardstock and water colored it with my aqua painters and ink pads. Now before you shake your head at me and tell me how I go on and on about how important it is to use Watercolor Paper, here's the story….
This is such an intricate design–lots of detail in the image. As you saw in the video, I started by stamping and embossing it in clear and then watercoloring it, but so much of the design was taken up in the embossing powder, the coloring wasn't really being showcased, so I had to redo it in black. If I embossed it, I'd have the same problem, so I decided to just stamp it in black archival ink. BUT, given the intricate nature of the buttefly, I knew it wasn't going to stamp well on the texture-y watercolor paper, so I did it on whisper white. It looked great. The rest is history, as they say….
I layered it up and I just love the color scheme:
I think it is just so pretty-and the shimmer from the Wink of Stella doesn't show in the photos–it is really beautiful!!

(Loved the video)
Another gorgeous card, Dena! I’ve been eyeing this stamp for a while because I saw another really cool card where the image was cut alongside the wing on the open side of the card and that backlayer peeked through (if that makes any sense?). But ended up not ordering it and now I’m a little sad 🙂 Oh, well, can’t have it all! I have to save up a bit for the new catalog, right 🙂
Thanks so much, Debra!! Have fun!!!
