So the theme for this week's challenge is Weddings!! Tis the season! I love a good wedding card and I am so excited to share this card. I went with Gray and Purples. Back in the day we had the color, Almost Amethyst with Stampin Up and I used to love that color for wedding cards. It was a great color, but after they retired it, I never really found a good color for wedding cards (like the ones you just have on hand….) well this card is easy to make and has a few nice touches to make it fancy! 😉
So I love the fact that I am using the Build a Birthday set for weddings–I love when things are versatile for more than one thing!! The cake plate is stamped in Smoky Slate with Elegant Eggplant for the bottom layer of cake and Wisteria Wonder for the top two layers. Some Silver Sequin Trim frosting and the celebratory flags at the top in Elegant Eggplant! 🙂
I then added a few flower punches with some bling (cause everyone needs bling for a wedding, right!) Last but not least, the Congrats is from my go-to stamp set: Cottage Greetings! I love the sweet look of the font in that set and it is perfect for dressing up this card! It is really a simple card but I love how it turned out!
As I am sitting here writing my post, my teenaged daughter, Ella is practicing her Viola–she was selected today to be in an elite state-wide orchestra at the end of next month and one of the pieces they are playing is Take 5. I LOVE that song! I love listening to her work through the music. She printed it off a few minutes ago and after a couple of google searches for the song and listening to it, she is piecing it together nicely. She kind of amazes me! I could never do what she is doing at that age. Oh the world we live in! But there is actually a reason I bring this up–I mean when was the last time I digressed from my original point….ok don't answer that. The reason I mentioned my darling daughter is she and 3 of her amazingly talented friends played in a quartet for their school Orchestra teacher's wedding. They arranged rehearsals and worked on the music all on their own time–and they got paid!! Their first gig! It was pretty cool! My baby is growing up! How did she get to be 14?! oh, and she started driving….but that is another post and another card! 😉

Hi Dena, love the simplicity and focal point of this cake card. I thought this would work well with washi tape attached to same size of CS for cake layers. Perfect card for one of my grandsons’ b-days coming up. Thank you for sharing with us.
Dena – Love this for a wedding card – TFS… Barb
Hi Dena,
Another lovely card! The colors made me think of my own wedding (I’m a “purple” girl from waaaaaay back. Any shade and I’m all over it!) And your daughter playing for her teacher’s wedding brought to mind that we had a young man (he was 13 at the time) play both the harpsichord and piano for our wedding. He was great! He was a member of our church and we are good friends with his parents. He is now married(!), and organist and choir director for a church in Ohio. Hard to believe that that event took place almost 14 years ago!
Thanks so much, Kathy!! Perfect for grandson’s birthday!!
You are so welcome, Barb! Glad you liked it!
Thanks so much, Sherry! It is crazy how time flies!! Glad you liked it!
It is amazing how time flies, isnt it, Sherry!! Glad you liked the card!
