Sale-a-bration International Blog Hop

SAB BLog Hop

Welcome to the Creativity Cave by Dena Rekow!  I am located in Iowa, USA (for those not familiar, it is in the middle (not too far from Chicago) and couldn't be more excited to be hopping with some of my fabulous and uber-talented friends from all over the world!  I hope you are as excited as I am!  We are highlighting project using Sale-a-bration items (our annual sales event) and I absolutely love this time of year and the options this year are outstanding!  Whether you are starting here or just stopped by from Jennifer's blog, Welcome!! I'm so glad you are here!

I decided to use my two favorite sets, Hello and Botanicals for You.  These sets are such easy stamping sets–perfect for anyone from brand-new stamper all the way to professional, award-winning expert!  I think what draws me to them is the bold words in the hand-lettering style and the fun pieces that go along with them!

I created all of these cards in a matter of just a few minutes (once my juices get going, it is easy to keep it up!).  I decided to use the same basic card set up: Half sheets of Whisper White and a 3 1/4 x 4 1/2" layer that is popped up on each.  Sometimes when you limit the supplies you use and the layout options, you can accomplish a great deal–and you force yourself to find new and interesting ways to use your supplies! And that is one of the things I have always loved about Stampin Up: the sheer versatility in our products.

This is the first card I made.  I've been playing around with this design (the 3 colors: Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral and Melon Mambo with a nice bold Black Archival ink for the words) for a while now.  Sooooo Simple!  But Soooo pretty!

Naturally this one came to me next–I liked adding the greenery that comes with the Botanicals for you Set!

I think this is just adorable!!  Sweet and simple.  And when you are making a card for a kid, let's face it, they are probably not going to be super impressed with your mad stamping skills, and the ard won't last either.  However, this card is so simple, quick and easy, you won't be disappointed that they already lost it in the throws of opening presents! 🙂  Plus, it was pretty darn quick and cheap to make (lest we forget we got into cardmaking in the first place for just one reason:  To save money!!!)  Here is one situation where we can claim an actual victory! 🙂

Now this card is just fun and pretty out of the box!  I am thinking my next attempt will have to be at making some sort of plaid with this neat border stamp.  My favorite part of any of these cards feeds my lazy bones:  When you start with the lightest color, you don't have to clean between colors!!  As long as they get darker each time you are good to go!  YAY!

Bonus project:  This is my rogue stamping experiment from the video (if you have not watched it yet, you should, it is at the very least, entertaining! 🙂 ). I for one, like the plaid! :)

And finally, Just for you Sunshine!! I love this card because it is the perfect thing to send to someone for no good reason (or if you need one:  who's day would not be brightened by this sweet number?  And better yet: the inside
