Friday Quickies Techniques And Tips: Split Cards

Check out the awesome video on my blog for how to create this awesome Split Card Using Stampin Up's Helping Me Grow Stamp Set

Well, after about a day and a half in bed with some major gastrointestinal distress, I am back in the real world!!  And let me tell you, if I knew being down for the count for a day or two would lead to my creative genius free-flowing I would have considered this a LONG time ago (I'm mostly kidding!)

I've been wanting to play with the concept of the "split card" for a while now–I'm not sure if that is the official term for these cards–I've been seeing them here and there and thought it was time to take a crack at it!  I HAD A BLAST!!  I planned the projects before I got sick, but then came back and added several to my stack after my prayers to the porcelain gods! Something magical happens when your body "reboots" apparently!

So this week's Friday Quickie is Split Cards (that is my own personal term and as I love inventing new stamping terms, I am sticking with it!!!)  Try not to giggle too much during the "coloring" portion of the video–I am sill working on perfecting the speed-up process! 🙂

Awesome color combo--check out my blog for how I used it!

Love the simple color combo in the video!  Simple and easy.  While I did not color in the daisy, I did put Wink of Stella on the petals, which is hard to capture in a photo!

The measurements for creating these cards are all basically the same:

  • Start with a 1/2 sheet the "hotdog" way (4 1/4 x 11) and fold in half.  Cut at 3"
  • Cut the small piece down to 1 1/2" (so it is 1 1/2 x 4 1/4")
  • Start with a 4×4" piece of printed paper.  Cut it at 2 3/4" so you have a 2 3/4" x 4" piece and a 1 1/4x 4" piece  These will fit on the 2 pieces of your card
  • Use your diecut or shape (I used the Lots of Labels on my sample) to connect the card and bottom piece together.
