Welcome to another addition of Friday Quickies! I have a great video for you today and I am so giddy about this technique I can hardly stand it! 🙂 The Faux Watercolor technique is super simple–can't wait for you to try it out! It is totally addictive!

Check out this week's Friday Quickie Video on the "faux watercolor" technique using Stampin Up's Vintage Leaves and Better Together Stamp sets on my blog at www.thecreativitcave.com #stampinup #thecreativitycave #fauxwatercolor #watercolortechniques

Gather Your Supplies:

  • 1/2 Sheet Old Olive plus a 5 1/8 x 3 3/4 panel
  • 5 x 3 5/8" Watercolor Paper
  • aquapainters
  • Vintage Leaves Stamp Set and Better Together Stamp Set (greeting)
  • Old Olive and Early Espresso ink pads
  • Ribbon (Vanilla Satin on card or Crochet trim from video)

Tips:

  • Make sure to watercolor over the image right away (don't stamp all of the leaves at first!)  Mix up stamped off and full-strength inks.
  • Clean off excess ink from aquapainter to get best results
  • don't stamp overlapping "wet" areas
  • Try a variety of stamp images for lots of fun!!

  1. Love today’s cards. The first one’s leaves remind me of silk burnout leaves. I think that’s what they’re called anyway. Will definitely be casing these ideas.

  3. I love your water coloring technique,Dena. Not always do I have a good stamped coverage when stamping solid flowers or images so your technique will surely save my stamping. You made my day and (so many to come). Thank you so much. Enjoyed the videos and your cards are awesome.

  4. The more I see of that new tree stamp set, the more I think I need to put it on my wish list! Love this technique! I had sort of done it last week when I was doing lots of playing with leaves but was hoping for more definition of the veins. You have shown me less definition of those veins is actually more:)
