Welcome to Friday Quickies!!! I am so excited about my new graphics–have you noticed my awesome new blog has had a make over? I have just a couple of more things to change to finish it up, but I am SOOOOO dang excited with how great it is looking–I was going for HAPPY AWESOMENESS–I hope it shows!
This week's Friday Quickie Techniques and Tips Video is for the Camouflage Background Technique. I got the idea from my good friend, Kelly and I love how it turned out. I of course had to play a little more and created a couple other cards, too. You can see them after this first card! 🙂
Gather Your Supplies:
- 1/2 Sheet Crumb Cake Cardstock (5 1/2 x 8 1/2")
- 1 1/2 x 5 1/2" strip of Whisper White Cardstock plus scrap to die cut label
- Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Soft Suede ink pads
- Labels and Tags Framelits (on the retiring list–make sure you get them before they are gone!)
- Playful Background Stamp Set, Suite Sentiments Stamp set (for Best Guy Ever or desired sentiment)
To create the background, start by rubbing crumb cake ink (directly to the paper) so it is uneven. Allow to dry for just a few minutes and then start by building the colors by stamping the "swish" image in Old Olive, Always Artichoke and finally Soft Suede inks.
You can of course play with different background colors, but this is perfect for the "classic camo" look. Pair it with an image from The Wilderness Awaits for another great masculine card!
I decided I was not ready to stop, so I wanted to create the "blue camo" look that I have seen on cargo pants in stores before. I used Pool Party, Marina Mist, Dapper Denim and Night of Navy to create this look. Sentiment is from Confetti Celebration. Tag is from same Labels and Tags framelits I used in the first card. Ribbon is Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon (and it is on the retiring list at a discount!)
Obviously I had to create a background with the dots in this set!! I used Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point for this one. It is sooooo quick and easy to create these. I think the possibilities are endless with just this one stamp set! Sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts. Circle is cut from Layering Circles Framelits.
