Hi everyone! I am super excited to share with you today's Friday Quickie Technique!! As usual, its awesome!! Plus, I share some tips in the video that may surprise you as far as color choice and placement!
Gather your supplies:
- 1/2 sheets of Smoky SLate Cardsdtock
- watercolor paper (I have a stack cut to 3 1/2 x 4 3/4" perfect for matting)
- Black (or desired mat color) 3 5/8 x 4 7/8"
- Aquapainters
- Various colors of ink pads
- "burp cloth" or a rag for cleaning your aquapainter
- Versamark and clear and/or black powder
- stamps of your choice (I've used Lovely as A Tree, Rose Wonder, Sheltering Tree, Sky is the Limit)
The video really helps show how to do the actual coloring, the best. I highly recommend playing with colors, blending, and water amounts for various effects!! Make sure your watercolor paper is totally dry before stamping any sentiments on or the ink will run (even the Archival ink will run). That will make you sad!
Another tip I have is to use the Embossing Buddy (found in the supplies below) before you emboss anything. It makes a huge difference in how the embossing comes out and gives you a much crisper image (and a happier stamper!)
Here is the photo that inspired it:
Not bad, huh? The Sentiment is from And Many More
Colors: Real Red, Rose Red, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy and Elegant Eggplant
This beautiful card has just a teensy story behind it. My auntie Carol lives in Hawaii. She is always posting GORGEOUS sunset photos and took us to her favorite sunset spot in Maui when we visited her last May. She moved to Hawaii as part of her grieving process. Her sweet husband, Larry, died after a rather lengthy battle with ALS. It was a very long, difficult process. He was a Pilot for Northwest/Delta, he was in the Air Force, flew a B25 Bomber in air shows for the Commerative Air Force and in retirement he planned on building/flying a replica of the Wright Flyer (this photo reminds me of that plane) in Air Shows around the country. This card is for him. I am going to mail it to her. I hope she likes it (and doesn't see this post before she gets it)! We love and miss him!
The colors in this are Smoky Slate, Memento Black (refill), Night Of Navy, Elegant Eggplant, Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, and Island Indigo (from bottom to top).
The propeller is a 3/4" circle punch of vellum attached with a mini brad! Cute, huh? I didn't think of this awesomeness, though. It was a friend! Makes for an awesome card, though…flying off into the sunset! Awwwwww….
