STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!
Ok, so maybe you've been crafting for a long time like me (or even if you are new to this delightful hobby) You may have a problem. It is possible that over the years, after a few purchases here and there, you've ended up with a glorious collection of DSP (Designer Series Paper/printed papers) You could probably fill more than one paper organizer. Your neighbors have noticed. Your husband has called the show Hoarders, and has an appointment set up with the producers and the show's Psychologist has scheduled an intervention…. Sound familliar? NO JUDGEMENT! We are all guilty of this but the good news is that I have some amazing ideas on how to bust that stash of paper and get some great cardmaking going!
Well, today's video was made for you! After my 17 year tenure, as you may have guessed (or those who've been to my house can attest to) I have a teensy bit of extra printed paper laying around! I love it!! While I do sell some in my garage sale, I have kept a ridiculous amount because it is too pretty and too awesome to part with. Well, I have turned a page in this chapter of my life and I've decided that I need to BUST through that HOARD! And I am bringing you with me!! 🙂 You are welcome!
First of all, watch the video! I have some amazing tips! I can't wait for you to see!! And then come back and we will talk about specifics and look at my samples!
As you saw in the video, I knew that doing something with your printed paper was an issue. I have been listening to comments and customer's feedback about this recently and I've heard a few things over and over: You love and want more paper BUT you need more like you need a hole in the head! 😉 I can sympathize!! So I sat down and made some sketches. If I was going to go to town on my paper supply, what could I do with it? I then took those sketches (becuase my hand-sketching abilities are not my best attribute) and turned them into actual cards. Those cards are now in a PDF with all the dimensions for future reference. Keep reading on how you can get your hands on the PDF!!
I also wanted to keep these cards for future reference. Sometimes having a PDF of something is great, but having the ACTUAL card in my hand, is easier to work with, and envision with the paper I have in front of me to use. So, using these cards, I decided to start creating "real" cards. Ones that I was making to actually send to people, not just as a reference.
I really got going, and ended up with over 40 sketches, and even more cards!! That is some hard-core stamping! I went through tons of printed paper (especially with all the coordinating envelopes I made using the Envelope Punch Board, as well as the Envelope Liners I cut using my Envelope Liner Thinlits). I am really proud of myself! 😉
Now….onto the projects!!!
Here is the first of the sketches–doesn't get easier than this! Just a strip of DSP going down the side of the card. The greeting is totally optional, but I like what i've got here! 😉
And this is the first Card Idea using sketch #1. Simple and cute! I used the Friends & Flowers stamp set and Festive Flower Builder Punch to finish this one off. Greeting is from And Many More. Simple and easy! This is a 3×3 card and coordinating envelope lined with DSP.
Oh so cute! 🙂
Here is a second Idea for Sketch #1. I used the Everyday Chic Printed Paper with the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set. Daffodil Delight and Black Archival Inks.
Between the wind chill advisory today and the blizzard earlier in the week, I think this card is more than appropriate! At least the days are getting longer!
Sketch 12 has DSP with corners rounded and a strip of cardstock (with flag end cut). SImple and cute!
The Card Idea has some of the Birthday Bouquet DSP (This is gorgeous paper–oops–enabler alert!!) The greeting is from One Big Meaning and I added a bow with the Blushing Bride Cotton Ribbon. SO SIMPLE, SO PRETTY!
Sketch #18 is awesome for all those strips of paper that I always seem to end up with after I cut down pieces for other projects. Each strip is 3/4" x 4" to create a 3 1/2 x 5 1/2" card. I used the Envelope Punch Board for the custom sized envelope, which was great to have!
Sketch # 18 Card Idea uses the gorgeous Botanical Gardens DSP. It is so pretty (and one of those "hard to cut into" papers!! However it does no good sitting in that package–dive in and start making some gorgeous cards!!
I used the coordinating Botanical Builder Framelits to complete the card. SO PRETTY! So Saffron and Old Olive with a black center and the saffron flower is sponged with Cajun Craze ink.
Such a great way to use up scraps!
The center of the flower is embellished with a beautiful Iced Rhinestone.
Finally Sketch #38 is so fun–of course the greeting is great–but I love the fun peek of the DSP behind the wings of the butterfly!
The Coordinating Card idea is soooooo Beautiful!! I used the Timeless Elegance DSP with the Rose Wonder Bundle. GORGEOUS!! Add some Sahara Sand Lace Trim and you have one amazing card perfect for Sympathy, Birthday, Wedding, or even a special Thank You! I like that kind of versatility–and all those sentiments are in the Rose Wonder stamp set!
Just Gorgeous!!
The Video shows how to pop up the beautiful Rose Garden Thinlit.
