Welcome back to the Creativity Cave for another awesome edition of Friday Quickie Technique and Tips Video Series! This week I have a great technique lined up: Coloring Your Embossing Folders!!
I love the effect–it is a beautiful look and can really enhance the look of embossing! I used a brayer in my video because it is very effective at evenly distributing color and keeping the ink out of the "crevices" that you don't want it to get into! However, sponging can work as can "direct to folder" where you rub the ink from your pad directly on your folder. Sponging results in much softer colors and direct to folder is much bolder colors. Both are harder to control of exact placement of colors.
Why not give it a try?! Here are my projects with this technique:
I love everything about this card: the subject (halloween is my fav), the colors: Smoky Slate, Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black (WITH BLACK GLIMMER!!!!) and the simplicity of the whole thing!
The ink really highlights those trees and the woodland Embossing Folder is perfect for this card, but is so versitile for use with just about any other theme for a nice outdoorsy card!
The inside is cute, too! 🙂
The Merry Card here uses the Softly Falling Emossing folder (also from the Holiday Catalog) and I really , really love how it turned out! I brayered 2 colors on this one–started with rich razzleberry and then added Elegant Eggplant. So pretty and stunning color! I used a white panel in the embossing folder so it would look like snow falling!
I was trying to figure out how to add some sparkle to this card to balance out the greeting and when I added the snowflake, I was thrilled especially because of these awesome Iced Rhinestones we have that are new!! OMG!!
Little rhinestones surrounding a big rhinestones–only better if they were real diamonds! 🙂
HELLO?!?! I had to use the Fluttering Embossing folder so I could pull out my Watercolor Wings set again. It was getting sad–it had been almost a week since I used it!! 🙂
Ever since I cut a leaf in Typeset paper last week, I've been dying to try it out with a buttefly and now was my chance! I LOVE how pretty this card turned out!
I went back to my signature colors since my dear friend, Pami told me she was worried they were not my fav anymore. NO WORRIES–Pool Party and Bermuda Bay are my favs forever!! I love the look! The butterfly was stamped "from the bottom up":Pool Party stamped off, Pool party, Bermuda Bay and Black Memento in the center detail.
The other thing I thought was so creative (; was the fact that I used the silver thread to wrap around my card rather than the swirly circles of it behind the focal point. Clever, huh? I have my moments, sometimes!!
