Welcome to The Creative Inking Blog Hop! Whether this is your first stop or you are coming from Lori's awesome blog, I am so thrilled to have you stop by The Creativity Cave! Our theme this month is Winter Frolics! I kind of love this theme, but I am not entirely sure my project qualifies! BUT, since I am totally giddy about it, I think I'll be fine!! 🙂
SO here is the story: I was at Hobby Lobby getting some picture frames the other day. I wanted one to make this project that was featured on the cover of our Stampin Success Magazine (it is our quarterly Stampin Up magazine that we receive as demonstrators, filled with project ideas, business tips and more!)
I know it is a tiny photo, but LOOK at how cool that picture frame is?!?!?! So I really wanted to make this up–in fact I bought the Evergreen Kit just to make this–hense my trip to Hobby Lobby for a cool weathered frame–just like the one on the magazine!
I decided this was the perfect thing to make for the hop today and guess what? The frame I bought was too small. :( So sad! So I decided I needed to make something else! Well, on that same frightful trip to HL, as it would be, I may have picked up something else: A padded bulletin board! Here is the awesome part: While I have big plans for this (check back when the new Occasions Catalog starts next month…it will be AWESOME) I decided, it would be the perfect background for my NEW Christmas Card Holder!!!!!
Hold onto your hats, because this is AWESOME!!!!
So here is the whole Bulletin Board–I have it sitting on my chair (sorry–it was hard to get a good photo of it!)
A little closer you can see the tree and I have attached it to the board with stick pins. They are not stuck through the tree–just stuck in places to hold it to the board. This way I can take it off an replace it with other seasonal items! Do you see how smart I am!?!?!?! 😉
The Forever Evergreen Project Kit makes the tree so EASY!! I put all this together in just over an hour (and that was deciding what to do and where to put it–not to mention getting the stampin done!!) The top of the tree uses the star and embellishments from the kit.
Using glue dots, I then attached 4 strings of mini gold sequins to the tree as shown then added the Honeycomb Ornamnets
TIP: Carefully open the honeycomb ornaments before you adhere them to the tree so as to not tear them–I tore one when I didn't "pre-open" it.
I used a gold stamped banner (it comes pre-gold embossed in the kit) and stamped it with Season's Greetings (from the Forever Evergreen Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler Ink
The Pinecone Embellishments were made by stamping the pinecone on the pre-cut Pine Cones in Soft Suede ink. I used the Christmas Pines framelits to cut a little pine bough in Garden Green and then I used the Holly Berry Happiness Bundle (stamps and punch) to punch the Holly in Pear Pizzazz. I added a single sequin on top with a glue dot.
I used the little berry sprigs from the kit to jazz up some of the pine cones!
And, finally you can see the board with a few cards added–these are just a few of my cards (again added with straight pins) so I can change out to different items as the seasons change! So excited about this!!!!!
