Creation Station Blog Hop: How to be a Millionaire

Welcome to The Creation Station Blog Hop! I am so excited to have you stop by The Creativity Cave!  If you've never been here before, I am Dena Rekow, and I am so glad to have a minute to inspire you today! This month our theme is How to be a Millionaire!  I may not be that, but I am pretty honored to have this as our theme as I have the opportunity to highlight what is CLEARLY the best set in the upcoming catalog (just two days away): Pretty Perennials, my $1M Sales Achiever Stamp Set! 

Just over 2 years ago, I hit my $1M in sales with Stampin Up! (I still can't believe I achieved this level of success, to be honest!!) and as part of my recognition, I choose to design a stamp set! The process is a lengthy one (not so much the designing of it) but the fact that things are created so far in advance of the release.  So much goes into designing, creating, sourcing and delivering the products that we create with–and this was an amazing experience!  I wanted my stamp set to be "HAPPY" and I wanted watercolor-looking florals.  I was thrilled when they told me I could also have dies to coordinate, so that was AWESOME! Hitting my $1M in sales was thrilling–but let me tell you–SO MUCH hard work went into it!  I am really looking forward to my next big goal:  Hitting $2M! Just a few more years and I'll be there! 😉

During my recognition trip to Stampin Up's Home Office (May of 2018), We met with Cathy Pitt, the chief illustrator for Stampin Up! I've known Cathy for many years and LOVED working with her on my stamp set! We met on a plane MANY years ago after a Stampin Up event. She and I paged through the catalog one page at a time and she asked me what I thought about everything–it was really fun! She explained some of the things that go into creating images (It was really a cool flight!!) I was so happy with how she brought to life everything that I wanted and the process was really exciting!
