Creation Station Blog Hop: Birthdays!

Creation Station Banner

Welcome to The Creation Station Blog Hop!  If you are just coming from Julie's amazing blog, I am so excited to welcome you to The Creativity Cave!  I hope you will like the projects I've got for you today–a little something for everyone!

Gorgeous Birthday Blooms Card using Stampin Up's Birthday Blooms Stamp set and watercoloring.

I'll go from complicated to easy–to start with this card is so beautiful (If I do say so myself) and I am just thrilled with how it turned out!  But, I am not going to lie, it took a bit longer to make than the others.  I love to watercolor (a lot) and I love the look of the finished product–it makes it look like I have way more skill than I do! 😉

I stamped the floral design on watercolor paper with Basic Gray Archival ink and colored in the flowers with Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay.

Would you like a video?  I can do that, if you'd like!  It isn't hard, it just takes a little time–and I promise it does not require much skill!

The background of the card is 3 parts:

  1. I started with a 4 x 5 1/4" Smoky Slate panel and used my Smoky Slate marker and just free-hand drew lines across to create a striped background.  NOTE they are NOT straight–you can do it!
  2. After I finished my watercoloring and fussy cut (this is frankly one of the more difficult parts of the process), I LIGHTLY penciled the outline of my image and then stamped the dotted image along that line.  If you look really closely on the photo above you can see my pencil line under the leaf at the bottom because I was too lazy to go back and erase before I adhered the whole thing down! 😉
  3. I did the marker spritzing technique–check out the video I did on it here–its super quick) BEFORE I adhered the floral image, using the Smoky Slate Marker.

The one thing that I love about this is the 1/4 of a doily I added to the bottom corner of my floral image.  I scrunched it up a bit before adhering it.  The Natural Wood Element, looks fantastic too!

You can see I also added some Wink of Stella at the very end, too! So pretty and just a fun little thing to add some sparkle!

So pretty!

Great Boy Birthday Card using Stampin Up No Bones About It Stamp Set and Balloon Celebrations Bundle (set and punch) Details on my blog.

Next we have a great card for a little boy (or man) in your life!  I think this is so sweet!!  It uses the set, No Bones About It along with the Balloon Celebrations stamp set.  These two combine for a great combination!  I stamped and punched the balloons in Tangerine Tango, Old Olive and Bermuda Bay.  To get the lighter shade, I stamped off the solid balloon.

The Dino is stamped on a 2 1/2" circle punch.  I added the eye with a marker so my dino was a little more personable!:)  Cause that's what you need in a TRex–personality!

This card was super fun and easy to create–a bit less work than my Birthday Blooms card!  Now are you ready for something simple?  Here we go:

Simple and Striking Birthday Card using Stampin Up Dotty Angles Stamp set for the background and the Balloon Bouquet Punch and some Gold Glimmer Paper.

Here is a quickie for you!  I stamped the Dotty Angles stamp 3 times at the top of a Rich Razzleberry panel (In Rich Razzleberry INk) and then added a popped up Gold Glimmer Balloon.  I tied a teeny bow in GOld Metallic Thread and adhered it with the Fine Tip Glue Pen.  The string hangs down and I adhered a "cheers" over the top that I cut with the Greetings Thinlits out of gold Glimmer.  That's it!

So quick and easy–and so fun!  I thought about doing it in black–I think that could be fun!!  Maybe Night of Navy?? The sky is the limit on this one!  I hope you liked my cards!!

  1. Gosh, Dena! These cards are awesome–and so versatile. I’ve gotta say, your water colored card is a-mah-zing!! All those little details make it so special. I love the dino card–and I’m glad you mentioned adding a dot for an eyeball That really does make it “personable” (or something). The simplicity of your last card is what makes it so gorgeous! I think I’m going to have to CASE that one! You could make stack of those in no time and really bring back the birthdays. #imbringingbirthdaysback

  2. Love your card. For Dino you could have him holding the strings to the balloons. The eye definitely helps and I loved how you stamped some greenery on the white circle. Great job as always!
