Welcome to The Creation Station Blog Hop! I am so thrilled to welcome you to The Creativity Cave! Thank you so much for stopping by! Whether this is your first stop, or you've just arrived from the amazing Kimberly's Blog, I am just so happy to have you here!
This month our theme is Birthday Bonanza! And while I was tempted to use some of our Balloon Stamp sets, I decided to go the softer side of birthdays with this BEAUTIFUL card using the new set, Big on Birthdays. I had posted a card last week (that I LOVED, btw, here) but I just could not get over the "at least you're still pretty" image–I LOVE the image but kinda hate the saying. I mean what are they getting at?!?!?! Soooooo, I decided I had to find a way to use that image without seeing those words, and I am pretty impressed with the results of that effort:
Gather Your supplies:
- 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" Crumb Cake
- approx 2 1/2 x 2 7/8" Old Olive
- approx 2 5/8 x 3" pear pizzazz
- Scraps of Whisper White, Bermuda Bay and Vellum Cardstock
- Flower Medallion, Petite Petal, Tree Builder, Triple Banner Punches
- Whisper White Ink
- Watercolor pencils (white)
- pearls
- dimensionals
- glue dots
- fast fuse
You can see how awesome the "center" of my flower looks sketched in. I love that detail!
I added the "bow" image in whisper white ink at the top and bottom–I know these are supposed to be just on the top of the image (like the bow of a package), but I thought they looked kinda cool as brackets, too!

Good alternate way to use that stamp! And the colors just pop.
Love this card, Dena! And PERFECT color combination!!
Beautiful card, Dena. And the pink one is even more lovely (and I’m NOT a “pink” person!) I, too, thought that sentiment was rather cruel. I wouldn’t use it. Hope you feel better soon. Those nasty bugs are going around and some are staying a loooong time. Take care. Thanks for sharing.
I was so happy to see you post this… “at least you’re still pretty” image–I LOVE the image but kinda hate the saying. I mean what are they getting at?!?!?!…because I feel the same way! Glad to see a way to use the image and cover up the words. Thanks for another great card!
Thanks for posting this!!! The saying on that image has been bothering me, too. Wonderful to see such a beautiful solution! 🙂
Awesome card! Hope you feel better soon🙂
Love the card Dena, and I was so surprised to hear that you love the Green Bay Packers. I am from Wisconsin and I love them too.
P. S. I just received the Sealed with Love Bundle that I ordered from you and it so so beautiful. Thought maybe I would get another thank you card from you, as the last time it was so nice.
I don’t think anyone likes the message that sentiment expresses, so thankful to have seen you use it this way. Beautiful composition.
This is genius!! I think I’ll show my customers this bc I had mixed reactions over that particular stamp too! Great idea Dena!
Thanks so much, Holly!

Thanks so much, Linda!
Oh I am so pleased it’s not just me …. That is exactly how I feel about that image and I too am so pleased to see how it could be used in such an effective way. Love your colour choices too Dena … great post x
Thank you so much! It is kind of terrible–and about 85% of the people who have commented on my video or here dont like it. It is a What Were They Thinking situation, for sure! 🙂
Great cards Dena. Nice twist on the image too. XO
What a smart idea to hid the snarky sentiment with a beautiful flower while leaving the texture to peek out! I love the Pear Pizzazz and Bermuda Bay combo! I’m gonna have to remember that! xoKathyxo
