Since I've been on a Holiday card Kick lately, I had my Flurry of Wishes stamp set sitting out on my desk so I thought this would be perfect! Since the sketch looks to have a watercolor wash background, I choose to start with some watercolor paper.  I embossed the largest snowflake in white powder and then pulled out some "snowflake-esque" colors: Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo and finally Night of Navy.

Use aquapainters to create a beautiful watercolor background

To create the  background, I simply washed my aquapainter across the snowflake so the area would be wet (no color, just water).  Then I went from lightest to darkest, adding color and letting it "mingle" over that wet area.  I like to say things like mingle–it sounds fancy and artistic–it is just mixing! 😉

Stampin Up's Glimmer Paper and Silver Metallic thread add the perfect touch to a snowflake card!

Once the colors dried, I knew I wanted to add one of the thinlit words I've got lying around in some glimmer paper.  I figured snow was perfect and I when it set it on top, it felt like I needed it something more.  So I added the vellum and stamped Let It (from sparkly Seasons) and then I wrapped some silver thread around it and popped up the "snow" by cutting skinny strips dimensionals.

Create some spritz with just your marker--video on blog for how to!

Finally, I covered the vellum with a scrap, and then spritzed my Night of Navy marker. Not sure how spritz with your marker (nothing but your marker) check out my video on how.
