Card Challenge Bonanza

Well, as it was as cold as it has gotten so far this winter outside here in glorious Iowa, it seemed like a good time to stamp! That and I had a bunch of stamping to get done for club that comes up this week!  However, as it happened, I could not get my groove on–there is really nothing more frustrating than that.  I think that the main reason is that I kept getting interrupted by trips to Lowes to pick out new carpet (we are in desperate need), football games lost and then football games won.  It is possible there was yelling at the TV (by me of course, I am the biggest fan in the house) and finally I decided to succumb to The Golden Globes.  I'm not proud, but it was fun to watch.  Though my kids were so "chatty" that I darn new kicked them out of the viewing area!  Sheesh! My husband had the smart sense to stay clear! But what all that means is that I spent some time in my office this weekend, couldn't get things going, so i sought out some help in the form of challenges!!  There were several to choose from, and the juices started flowing and this is the fruit of my labor–ENJOY!

CTS_154

This was the perfect sketch to start with–I knew it would be easy to work with all I had to do was pick a stamp set and colors.

I went with Grateful Bunch from the Occasions Catalog and the coordinating punch (cause after all, a coordinating punch is the spice of life, right!?)

My color scheme ended up being Watermelon Wonder, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette with some Basic Black accents.  The very center of each flower is a flower from the Tree Builder Punch and then a rhinestone in the center of that.  Really punches the card up with that black in the center.  My card is actually a notecard (5 x 3 1/2") and is perfect for this challenge!

I think it turned out fantastic and I was really in love with the colors!

For my next sketch, I was super excited because I think this sketch is awesome–I loved the look and knew it would be easy to come up with something!!  It kind of reminded me of the sketch from above, but I wanted to stretch a bit and I liked the look of the "gray" in the background on this sketch so I transferred that to my card:

I pulled the "sprinkled" design of the sketch in with the new Botanical Builder framelits (that are part of the Botanical Blooms bundle).  Combined with the Hello Saleabration (quickly becoming my fav) I just LOVE how this card came out! I started with the 2 gray layers (Basic Gray and Smoky Slate) and knew that that Watermelon cardstock that was still sitting out would be perfect on my this card.  However, the bigest flower in the framelits wasn't quite as big as I wanted, so I pulled out my Fun flower punch and they looked great together!

On the center flower,  I stamped with the little background element from the set and added the Botanical Garden Jewel (how perfect) and then layered up with the fun flower and the largest leaf (in pear pizzazz).

So my Fun Flower would really jump off that gray background, I added the Clear Wink of Stella.  Can you hear the squeal?  I love that stuff!  It is for sure my new go-to effect to add to my projects! I am certain I will be going through a ton of it!

I hope you love how this turned out!  To finish it off, I "spritzed" it with my Gray marker (I covered the flower before spritzing).  You can see how to spritz with just your marker here:

Ok, now what's not to like about this sketch?  I love the colors and so I focused on them for my card.  I started with a watercolored chevron background. (from my Friday Quickie Video) I used the Art of Life stamp set for the cheveron (that is such a great set!!) and thenI kept working with my Botanical Builder Framelits.  This time I used Melon mambo.  But before I cut the flower out I did the Faux Suede Technique.  Once my layers were basically pulling apart, I then diecut them with the large flower framelit and off set the two layers on one another.

I LOVE the texture and how vivid the colors are!  The center is diecut in white and sponged some daffodil delight in the center to pull the chevron in.  I added an Iced Rhinestone to the center and a leaf and then mounted it on Black and a Melon Card.  The greeting is from Grateful Bunch (that was still sitting out on my desk! 🙂

Another fantastic card, if I do say so myself! 🙂  I hope you enjoyed all the challenge cards that I created!  It was really fun and helpful to get my juices going!
