Black and white and awesome all over!

Hi everyone,

I have to tell you that when I see the Can You Case It Challenge, I usually think to myself, Girl, PLEASE!!  Of course I can!  However, this challenge was a teensy bit hard for me.  While, I had no problem coming up with an awesome card (I mean, that IS my thing), it literally almost killed me to not add a splash of color somewhere–because THAT is also my thing!  I love a great neutral card with a splash of color (If you don't believe me, come back later today for my Friday Quickie Video! 🙂

So here is the challenge, and can I say, Congrats to CYCI!  Three years is an awesome accomplishment!  Thank you to the team for awesome inspiration week after week!!

So, my card, in my humble opinion is just gorgeous, but I always have a hard time getting a super awesome photo of black and white cards, and when you add in the part that makes this Black Tie/Elegant/Awesome: The Wink of Stella, I have to say it just is way way way prettier in person.  Such is life!  Hope you like it!

To make this card, gather your supplies:

  • 1/2 Sheet, 3 3/8 x 4 5/8" Basic Black cs
  • 5 1/4 x 4"(for inside card) , 3 1/2 x 4 3/4" , and 3 3/8 x 4 5/8" Whisper White cardstock oh, and a scrap for the label
  • Basic Black Archival ink
  • Rose Wonder Bundle
  • Wink of Stella

I cut the black layer with the large Rose Die, positioned so it would maximize the shape in the space (and look good).  I CAREFULLY saved the pieces so I could piece them back together again.  Next I glued them down on the white panel (that's the same size)

I then added Wink of Stella to all the inside parts of the Rose (not the leaves) to create a beautiful shimmer.  And it really does look amazing in person!

Finally I layered it up and popped it onto my black card!  Not too tricky–just gotta glue down those pieces!

Maybe if you turn your moniter/screen you can see the shimer? 😉 Kidding!  Check out the video!!
