Beautiful Butterfly!

Shimmery Butterfly Card made with Stampin Up's Watercolor Wings stamp set and Faux Resist Technique! Check out my blog for a video tutorial and all the supplies used!

So this is a card I made last week with the inspiration of the Global Design Challenge and I ran out of time to post it before the challenge was over (give me a break–I did 3 cards for one challenge last week!!)  Anyway, I LOVE this card because it has all kinds of fabulous elements in it: Black stripes, vellum, aqua shades and butterflies!  There are not a lot of better things in this world than all of those on one card!

As I made the card (and am typing this out) I can't help but sing "Beautiful Butterfly" which is a little song that my kids learn to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  They take Viola Lessons through our local Suzuki program.  Anyway, my son, Carl who is 9, and his entire life revolves around Star Wars.  He wants to learn how to play the Star Wars theme song, which is Triplets–3 8th notes together.  So they learn different rhythms to Twinkle.  First is Mrs Twinkle Stop Stop (you play that rhythm "mrs twinkle stop stop" for each note in the song Twinkle.  Well to play Triplets, you play Beautiful Butterfly for each note of Twinkle.  So I can't look at this card without singing Beautiful Butterfly to Twinkle in my head!  Not to worry–it will soon be replaced by the Star Wars triplets 🙂

I just love the look of the black and aqua!  I popped up a greeting (from And Many More) on the wing.  Simple and cute!  I think this card would be fun in lots of different color combos! Pinks, Orange/Corals, Yellows!  OOOOOHHHH, the possibilities!
